SIMPLE TOMATO SAUCE
This sauce can be used on pasta, chicken parm, spaghetti squash or any vegetable...this is so easy and is one of my favorite recipes. You can add herbs, meat or cheese to change the flavor.
You can keep this in a jar in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze in batches to use later. You’ll always have fresh sauce without the added sodium!
1 28oz can of good quality tomatoes – San Marzano whole peeled is perfect
1 clove garlic cut in ½
1 medium brown onion cut in ½
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Fresh cracked black pepper
JF Universal Salt to taste
In a large saucepan crush the tomatoes with a large wooden spoon, add onion, garlic, butter salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil. Reduce and Simmer for 35-45 min.
At this point, you can discard the onion and garlic and finish seasoning or use an Immersion Blender and blend together for an entirely more complex flavor sauce. Try both ways and see what you prefer.
For a great 4 ingredient breakfast using this simple tomatoes sauce poach an egg and add feta and herbs.
