GRAIN AND DAIRY FREE BOLOGNESE PASTA BAKE
This is the ultimate Sunday, comfort food. Beyond delicious served with my JF Garlicky Broccoli Rabe - try not to eat the whole thing before you plate it! Serves 4-6.
2 (8oz) boxes grain-free pasta, cooked according to package (I like Jovial)
½ white onion, finely diced
3 garlic cloves, finely diced
1½ lbs grassfed, 80/20 ground beef
½ cup tomato sauce + additional for assembling
Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste (sub chili paste)
Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
JF Spicy Salt, to taste
Dairy-free mozzarella, shredded (I like Violife)
Dairy-free parmesan, shaved (I like Violife)
JF Garlicky Broccoli Rabe, chopped
In a large pot of salted water, cook your pasta according to the package. When it’s done drain and rinse to remove any starchy residue. Set aside.
In a large sauté pan begin to warm your olive oil. Throw in your finely diced white onion and garlic, allowing both to sweat down and soften slightly. Add the ground beef and work in your tomato sauce. Season with crushed red pepper flakes, fresh cracked black pepper, and JF Spicy Salt; adjust to taste.
Don’t rush the cooking process here, allow the meat to brown and slightly crisp over the heat. Drain the fat as needed. As this comes together gently toss in your grain-free pasta. Combine well, ensuring the sauce is incorporated throughout.
Preheat the oven to 350º. In a large baking dish, ladle in a thin layer of tomato sauce as your base. Work upwards with a layer of our bolognese, then with a layer of dairy-free mozzarella + tomato sauce. Repeat until you reach your desired height. Finish with extra dairy-free mozzarella, dairy-free parm, black pepper, and JF Spicy Salt. Bake for 45 minutes covered in foil.
Serve warm topped with my JF Garlicky Broccoli Rabe. Also delicious scooped out and microwaved. Enjoy!
